Get Dry Skin Relief in the Winter and Summer

by Martha Fitzharris

Dry skin can be quite problematic especially due to the fact that it is susceptible to rashes, irritation, and redness. It can also get worse with seasonal changes.

Each one of the four season comes with its own set of problems. Winter wind and cold weather are notorious for drawing out the moisture from your skin. Summer means more pool time, which means more contact with irritating substances such as chlorine.

Dry Skin Care during the Winter

Your best ally during the winter months are skin care products, like skin moisturizers. However, they aren't the only option you have. In fact, you may have found a great moisturizer, but if you maintain certain bad habits you may still suffer from dry skin.

For example, applying your moisturizer to dry skin won't be as effective as having applied it to damp skin. Another habit you should change, especially if you have dry skin is the time spent in the shower. Exposing your skin to hot water for extended periods of time can lead to dry skin. So, if you can't bring yourself to give up the hot showers, you can simply reduce the amount of time you spend under the running water.

To cleanse your face you can use a cream cleanser or olive oil if you have very dry skin. Soapy cleansers are the worst choice for dry skin. The soapy nature of the cleanser will dry out and irritate your skin while the water you need to lather up will take some of your skin's moisture with it as it evaporates.

The following skin care tips can help provide you with dry skin relief during the winter. Stay away from open flames and fireplaces. Use a humidifier and moisturizing products (such as rose hip oil) to alleviate irritation and tightness.

How to Take care of Dry Skin during the Summer

If you think that during summer your dry skin problems will decrease, you may be in for a surprise. The reason most people suffer from dry skin during summer is: more exposure to water. Water strips both the natural oils and moisture from your skin.

It is vital that you follow a few suggestions if you want to enjoy the beach and avoid dry skin problems. Firstly, take your moisturizer and sunscreen with you wherever you go because these products will help protect your skin and keep it moisturized.

Whether you are going to the pool or to the beach, it is important to bathe in a place that has fresh water showers. This will allow you to quickly rinse the salt or bleach from your skin. Once your skin is clean, make sure to apply your moisturizer and reapply your sun block.

A great moisturizer used to treat dry skin is rose hip seed oil. Few skin care product use rose hip oil as one of their ingredients, however BIOSROSEHIPOIL is the one product that offers rose hip oil in its purest form. Besides using it for dry and irritated skin, you can also use this natural product to help treat rosacea and as an eczema healing balm.
