Stretch Marks Treatments for Every Budget

by Abigail Mckenzee

For many people, stretch marks are an unfortunate fact of life. Growth spurts, pregnancy and gaining large amounts of weight in a short period of time are some of the causes of stretch marks. Because this problem affects a large amount of the population, there are a wide range of treatments for stretch marks.

No matter what your budget or severity of your stretch marks is there is a treatment option for you. Remember, however, that the only way to truly eliminate stretch marks is never to have them in the first place.

Treatments for Stretch Marks

Natural home treatments are the most popular and the ones that have been around the longest. Others are skincare creams especially geared towards removing stretch marks. Yet others are more invasive surgical procedures.

The following text will take a look at each one of these alternatives.

Natural Home Remedies

Natural home remedies are the most inexpensive ways to treat stretch marks. Massaging the affected areas with aloe vera gel, rose hip oil and lavender oil can help reduce the appearance of stretch marks. These products and others can be combined to produce natural stretch mark lotions and balms.

For example, mix:

*1/2 cup olive oil

*1/4 cup aloe vera gel

*4 capsules Vitamin E (remove liquid and discard casing)

*2 capsules Vitamin A liquid

And put the mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator. You can use this lotion on your stretch marks every day. Don't forget that natural remedies will take longer to produce the desired effects so be patient.

Topical Creams and Lotions

Topical creams and lotions are another alternative to diminishing the appearance of stretch marks. These creams provide elasticity to your skin as they help in removing a layer of your skin. This type of product will help the regenerated skin be smoother and with less scar tissue.

By following the instructions of the label, you will be able to see results in four to six weeks.

Surgery

Laser scar removal has become a popular alternative for reducing the color and depth of stretch marks. It is definitely a good alternative to help minimize the appearance of stretch marks.

However, the most effective way to eliminate scar tissue, including stretch marks, is plastic surgery. This option will remove the skin that contains the stretch marks completely, and the results are immediate.

Each option is valid in its own right. The choice depends on your budget and the severity of your stretch marks.

As we have mentioned, there is a wide variety of options for scar treatment and stretch mark scar removal. To treat stretch marks in the most satisfactory way, consult with your dermatologist.
